Dubai job search is not so easy for expats, but it is
not impossible. Till a few years back, the economic scenario in Dubai was not
that good. But in the last 4-5 years, Dubai’s business and the economy are growing
at a significant rate. As per a LinkedIn’s “Middle East and North Africa
Recruiting Trends” report, Dubai’s employment opportunities are more for
professionals with experience or knowledge on data mining, public policy, statistical
analysis, and international relations. Web architecture, algorithm design, SEO/SEM
marketing, UI design are other sought-after skills in Dubai job search.
So, if you are willing to start a progressive career in Dubai’s
growing job market, then you should know where to start and how to start. The
most important ones are the official documents that you require on entering,
working and living in Dubai.
Work Visa:
A work visa is very essential if you plan to have a job in
Dubai. So, when you start your Dubai job
search, make sure your company hires expats and also offer a work visa if you
are chosen for the job. In fact, getting a work visa becomes easy as it is the
duty of the employer to fulfill all official requirements to get the work visa
for the new employee. So, the best advice is to enter the city on a tourist
visa, make a thorough Dubai job search
and get selected while you are on a tourist visa itself. Your tourist visa
status gets easily transferred to a work visa when you get the job.
There are some countries which are exempted to obtain a Dubai
visa ahead of time and the professionals can enter the city with visa upon
arrival. Once they are hired, they can apply for a work visa during their stay in
the city for 90 days. There are few countries which provide visa upon arrival
for 30 days only. Hence, foreigners belonging to these countries, seeking jobs
and doing a proper Dubai job search
should keep a note of all these factors.
Thus, professionals from other countries, if seriously are
looking for jobs in Dubai, should enter the city on a tourist visa and perform
their Dubai job search. It is
important that they get the job or else they have to leave the city before the
visa expires. If by any chance, you are found working on a tourist visa, you
can be fined and deported or jailed.
Health card:
If you are lucky and you get a job through your Dubai job search, your work visa gets
processed by the employer, there are other documents that are required too.
Once you get employed, you need to submit a few documents to the Department of
Health and Medical Services. These include a visa application to the
department, along with passport copies, your photo, offer letter of your job
and medical records. A sample of your blood is also taken to test diseases like
Hepatitis C, HIV, and tuberculosis. Presently, the UAE does not allow
foreigners with these diseases to stay in its country. Once your health tests
are done and you clear all the tests, a health card will be issued to you. It
is mandatory for all foreign nationals to get a health card to work in Dubai.
Labor card:
There is also the requirement of the Labor card issued by the
Ministry of Labor. To get the labor card, you need to submit your employment
contract, entry visa, passport photo, medical records, including your company’s
labor license to the concerned department. Once these documents are validated,
you are issued a labor card, which is an essential requirement to work in
Dubai.
Residence Visa:
Once you get your job, you will require another important
document, and that is the residence visa. This is issued by Dubai’s General
Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs. A form needs to be filled by
you and you need to submit few documents likes as your passport, health
certificate, medical records, original entry permit, photos, and the receipt
from your labor card processing. Once everything is checked and validated, you
get your Residence visa.
Dubai Job Search becomes a complete success only when
you get these four important documents to start working in Dubai legally.
